En esta ocasión es para mí un honor presentar en Lady´s Graff la siguiente entrevista; se trata de una mujer con un tremendo dominio y calidad en el graffiti, una de las mujeres con mayor trayectoria en la escena de Barcelona (o mejor dicho de España entera), ella es MUSA.

¿Cuál es tu tag?: Firmo Musa, aunque también pongo María; he escrito a lo largo de los años China, Chavo y Venus. Cuando empecé a pintar buscaba un nombre que significara algo en castellano, algo en lo que pudiera identificarme, es algo importante para mí.
What´s your tag?: Signed Musa, but also put Maria. I´ve written along the years China, Chavo and Venus. When I started painting wanted a name that meant something in Castilian, something that could identify me, it´s important for me.

¿Cómo fue tu introducción al graffiti?: La primer persona que vi pintando en mi vida fue a FUTURA 2000, de casualidad, cuando iba al colegio y me enganchó. Después mi pareja y amigos me introdujeron en el graffiti, hasta hoy en día. Empecé a pintar a finales del año 89; primero hice algunas piezas a plásticas y plata, cosas muy sencillas pero dentro del wildstyle, poquitas. Después empecé a hacer las piezas a color y hasta la fecha.
How was your introduction into graffiti?: The first person I saw was painting in my life was FUTURA 2000, for chance, when I went to school and I was hooked. Then my partner and friends introduced me to graffiti, until this day. I started painting at the end of year 89, first I made some plastic and silver pieces, very simple things but a few within the wildstyle. Then I started making the pieces with color and up to date.

¿Tu graffiti ha tenido alguna influencia de algún personaje?: Claro, toda la gente que he visto pintar durante años. Ver sus piezas y querer ser mejor en todo uno.
Has your graffiti had some influence of someone?: Sure, all the people I´ve saw painting during years. View their pieces and want to be better is all one.

Hablando de legal e ilegal, de calles y galerías, de muros y canvas; ¿Qué opinas entre esas divisiones que se hacen dentro del graffiti?: Son muy personales, a mí me gusta el graffiti y básicamente está en la calle. El trabajo en galerías es como un reflejo de lo que se hace fuera.
Speaking of legal and illegal, streets and galleries, walls and canvas; What do you think between these divisions that are made within the graffiti?: They´re very personals, I like graffiti and it´s basically in the street. The work in galleries is like a reflection of what is done outside.

¿Cuál es tu papel dentro de MTN?: Llevo desde que empecé colaborando con la marca, pasando por distintos puntos. Actualmente soy Community Manager.

Sin afán de dividir el graffiti en género, ¿Cuál es tu opinión del graffiti femenino?: No estoy muy de acuerdo con las discriminaciones de ningún tipo, ni siquiera las positivas, en lo que al graffiti se refiere. Creo que si eres buena(o) en lo que haces, no hay discriminación posible.
El graffiti es una disciplina donde se tiene que entregar mucha energía, mucho tiempo, mucha valentía y mucho estilo. La calidad es incontestable y las cualidades no dependen de géneros.
Hay escritoras a las que respeto por su trabajo, su empeño y su constancia. Hay muchas otras a las que no considero, pero me pasa lo mismo con muchos escritores, no soy sexista.
Aún así es divertido encontrarse con las colegas para pintar juntas donde sea y cuando sea.
No desire to divide graffiti on gender, What´s your opinion about female graffiti?: I´m not agree with discrimination of any kind, even positive ones, as far as graffiti is concerned. I think if you´re good or what you do, there is no discrimination possible.
Graffiti is a discipline where you have to deliver a lot of energy, long time, great courage and great style. The quality is undeniable and isn´t dependent on gender.
There are female graffiti writers that I respect for their work, their commitment and perseverance. There are many others that I don´t consider, but I feel the same with many writers, I´m not sexist.
Still it´s fun to find with other women colleagues to paint together wherever and whenever.
El graffiti es una disciplina donde se tiene que entregar mucha energía, mucho tiempo, mucha valentía y mucho estilo. La calidad es incontestable y las cualidades no dependen de géneros.
Hay escritoras a las que respeto por su trabajo, su empeño y su constancia. Hay muchas otras a las que no considero, pero me pasa lo mismo con muchos escritores, no soy sexista.

¿Creés que haya alguna diferencia de estilos entre un graffiti realizado por una mujer, al que está hecho por un hombre?: No por definición, es una cuestión personal.
Do you think there is any difference between a graffiti style by a woman, which is done by a man?: No, for definition, it´s a personal matter.
¿Es difícil para una mujer conseguir un lugar y un respeto en una actividad, como lo es el graffiti, predominada por hombres?: Dónde yo vivo no es difícil hacerse un hueco, pero sí es difícil mantenerte y conseguir el respeto de la comunidad de escritores. No creo que varíe mucho respecto a los hombres.
¿Cuál es tu opinión sobre el graffiti que se está haciendo en todo el mundo y la participación de las mujeres en la escena?: Ahora mismo hay tantas ramas, tantas vertientes de graffiti que es difícil opinar. Ver piezas todo el día te ayuda a no cerrarte en un concepto o un tipo de graffiti, a pesar de que mis gustos son muy clásicos en general.
Tampoco es fácil hablar del papel de la mujer en otros países sin haber caminado dentro de sus zapatos. Sé que cada vez hay más y me alegra ver que hay algunas que no son flor de un día, que empezaron hace tiempo y siguen al pie del cañón. Me gusta el hecho de que cada vez hayan más que lo prueben.
What´s your opinion about the graffiti is being done worldwide and participation of women in the scene?: Right now there are so many branches, many aspects of graffiti that is difficult to say. View pieces all day helps you not turning into a only concept or type of graffiti, despite though my tastes are very classic in general.
Nor is it easy to talk about the role of women in other countries without having walked in their shoes. O know that every time there are more and I´m glad to see that there are some that aren´t come instantly, so they started long time ago and continue to soldier on. I like the fact that increasingly have more girls are demostrating it.
